The Reference staff provides in-person and telephone reference service using Internet searches and online databases in addition to the Library's book collection. Through the New Jersey Library Network we can refer information requests to the New Jersey Statewide Reference Center and several other libraries with specialized collections.
As a member of BCCLS we can help you locate and obtain books and journal articles from any of the 73 member libraries. The library catalog can be searched from home 24 hours a day and requests can be placed online.

Books not available in the BCCLS system can be requested on Interlibrary Loan through the Reference staff. Photocopies of journal articles may also be requested.
Through our membership in BCCLS and the Highlands Regional Library Cooperative the Library is able to offer access to a number of online databases both in the library and from home.
The staff provides instruction in searching the online Library catalog and databases as well as basic Internet instruction. Stop by or call the Reference Desk and make an appointment.
Bergen County library card holders are eligible to use the Q & A New Jersey web site which offers 24/7 online reference service.
