How Summer Reading Works

Teen book club meets once a week for six weeks during the summer. Each week participants will be provided with a theme or genre from which they will choose a book to read and discuss. Teen Volunteers Needed At the Dixon Homestead Library
We want:

· Teens who are enthusiastic about volunteering and helping others.

· Teens who are 14 - 17 years old.

· Teens who are reliable and motivated to take on several different tasks when asked.

What will I be doing?

There are many different tasks that need your help, such as the Reading Buddies Program, helping children log their summer reading, decorating, preparing art projects, or even keeping the children’s room organized amidst the summer frenzy! Don’t worry if you cannot do it all. Come and speak to the Youth Services Associate and we will find the right jobs for you.

How can I sign up to volunteer?

Stop by to fill out an application with a parent or guardian. Just ask a the front desk or visit the Youth Services Associate at any time. Once we     review the application, we will contact you for training.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

· Volunteering gives back to your community.

· The hours can be reported on high school, college, and scholarship applications.

· You can learn different skills and explore new opportunities that you might not have considered.

· You can meet other people who like to do the same things as you.

· You can have FUN!
