Research Assistance comes in many forms…

Reference Librarians are available to assist patrons with researching topics for school, work, and personal interests through a variety of services and resources. Contact the Reference Department to learn more about research assistance.

The BCCLS catalog is the gateway to identifying and finding the location of more than five and one half million items.

Items not held in Dumont can be requested for delivery to this location or to another BCCLS library.

Items not held within BCCLS can be requested through JerseyCat, the interlibrary loan service provided by the NJ State Library.  This specialized service is reserved for New Jersey residents only and can be accessed by contacting the library’s Reference Department.

Instruction sessions are presented to teach patrons how to navigate the databases provided through JerseyClicks and through local subscriptions like, WorldBook Online.

Printed instructional sheets are made available for patrons to take home to get acquainted with our resources.

Assistance is available to explore reference copies of local history items, ephemera, and Dumont family histories.

Guidance is provided to local college students on using resources available to them through the Sidney Silverman Library at Bergen Community College or the George T. Potter Library at Ramapo College.
